NOTE ON PLAYING MIDI FILES: All my MIDI works are meant to be played using the standard Microsoft GS Wavetable. Usage of any other wavetable will give unintended results. By all means experiment if you have the capability, but please be aware that what you end up with will not be what I intended!
Also, some MIDI files played on Winamp before version 5.3 will not play correctly. If you use Winamp, please upgrade to the latest version (5.3 or above.

Play Size Mins Five Nancarrow Studies op.38 (2002)
The American Conlon Nancarrow (1912-1997) was an extremely unorthodox composer; he used to cut holes in pianola rolls by hand, then play them (the rolls that is; not the holes!) I have made some pieces in the same vein, but using Cakewalk instead of a paper hole puncher (it's a lot less strain on the shoulder muscles!)
These little vignettes are all roughly between 30 seconds and 3 minutes in length, and all palindromic (same backwards and forwards). Pointless but fun to do - well it passed the time on a rainy day.
One     4k  00:50 High to low, then back again.
Two     3k  01:40  Disjointed notes and phrases for two pianos.
Three     9k  02:44  Piano one slowly repeats a single note while piano two plays a fast wide spread of notes. Gradually the two reach a middle ground, then reverse roles. Rinse and repeat.
Four    15k  00:59  A slow build up in piano one (left) combined with a mad rush in piano two (right). As usual they meet in the middle then change places.
Five     7k  00:36  Left piano is way up high while the one on the right is in the bottomless pit. Change places...
