LOTS OF DIFFERENT STYLES AND APPROACHES, EVERY PIECE A MUSICAL EXPLORATION. GIVE YOUR EARS A TREAT!
NOTE ON PLAYING MIDI FILES: All my MIDI works are meant to be played using the standard Microsoft GS Wavetable. Usage of any other wavetable will give unintended results. By all means experiment if you have the capability, but please be aware that what you end up with will not be what I intended!
Also, some MIDI files played on Winamp before version 5.3 (and it appears, after 5.541) will not play correctly. If you use Winamp, please up/downgrade to a version between 5.3 and 5.541 (incl), or alternatively, download this version or go here where you can download ANY version of Winamp.

March of the Killer Ants for string synthesiser
Opus: 2
Length: 6:20
Instruments: 1979 - Korg micro-preset synthesiser, 2003 - MIDI
Composed: 1979
Re-written and re-recorded: 2003Original recording
The second thing I tried to do with the Korg was an attempt at writing a string quartet - I wasn't really up to it in 1979, and neither was the Korg, but I did manage to create an interesting and highly unusual piece of music.

Here is a MIDI string version with some minor alterations. Still doesn't sound right, although it is an improvement on the original. A failed experiment I thought - until I tried using a piano sound instead... Piano MIDI

Now it sounds like some mad prehistoric march when played on piano (or rather two pianos - or maybe one piano with two pianists, I don't know) The title came to me when I made this version and realised it reminded me of the music in a Tom & Jerry cartoon when the ants are marching single file towards Tom's picnic basket.
