SINCERITY - Reviews (Compiled from LYRIQ issue 75 - The Mensa Poetry Magazine)
I also appreciated your "Sincerity" - I know the feeling and have struggled with the temptation of donning a full suit of armour whenever someone appears to be in touching distance of my vulnerable inner self. It has to be resisted, however, because, whether she heals us or destroys us, we dare not close the door on Love. (M. Reijman)
The cunning placement of the word "...unless..." changes this poem's direction entirely and, once again, Elwood throws the reader off guard. What could have been just another variation on an over-familiar theme becomes idiosyncratic. But there's that word again- 'nought'. Aaaaaaaaah! Does the story have a happy ending though? (E. Dent)
Honourable mentions must go to Elwood for "Sincerity".... I'm not usually attracted to anything that rhymes but the level of writing was so impressive and the emotion so intense, that both of these pieces deserve praise. (Phoenix)
