LIFE CYCLE

Originally written in 1982, dedicated in 2007 to Josie Grove (1991-2007) - a remarkable young lady who was dealt the short straw in life.

Words falling together
Sounds from below
Is this an illusion too?
Songs etched on the silence
Together they flow
Forming an image of you

And when I feel the sound
Falling on my silent soul
I can forget the tears we often knew
And I can cry again knowing that the love we shared
Is all we had to see us through

Don’t be disillusioned
Time passes by
Leaving us far behind
It’s never too early
To say you will try
We’re just two of a kind

And when I hear the view
Calling on my restless mind
I can remember years of long ago
And I can understand why you had to leave me here
It’s also why you had to go...

The end of an era
End of a life
Beginning of something new
You have to be careful
It cuts like a knife
Make sure you leave on cue

And when I see the pain
forming on my hardened skin
I can sense the beauty still to come
But is it worth it all just to see your destiny?
As one life ends, one is begun
