Seriously strange music. Two large-scale examples of my art from opposite poles of the musical universe.

To Touch the Silver Butterfly of Spring
(A Homage to Subotnick) 48 Jun 04 30:45
Inspired by the electronic works of Morton Subotnick (especially "Until Spring") the source material was the MIDI file of my 1st Piano Sonata 2nd mvt, fed into the Waldorf synthesiser which was programmed to produce a very low frequency "pulsed" tone. The output was then manipulated on the computer using pitch adjustment and other simple effects to build up phrases of sound which were then multi-tracked and overlapped to produce the final piece. The second part is based on the first, but reversed, altered and rearranged, with a "Subotnickian" rhythm added towards the end. Try to listen to this piece without any background noises - there are some very quiet sections in it. This is my homage to the best composer of electronic music who has had a massive influence on me for over 30 years (doesn't like answering his emails though!)
Morphic Resonance
For 2 pianos & percussion 50 Mar 05 39:00
For my opus 50, I present 39 minutes of pure pianistic pandemonium. Not many people realise that the piano is actually a percussion instrument, and I've always liked the combination of piano and a good drum kit! If anyone out there is writing music crazier than this, I want to know about it. I'll probably get death threats from pianists for writing this! (Split into 3 parts here but meant to be played as a continuous piece.)
