| BACH ON A YAMAHA! | Okay so maybe it isn't up to Wendy Carlos's standard, but mine's a lot cheaper (FREE in fact) and was made 15 years later. Technically the Yamaha had the capability to recreate just about all of Carlos's subtle phrasing and so on, but as it was such a pain to program it to that level of complexity, I basically didn't bother. The 1st movement of Bach's 3rd Brandenburg Concerto sounds quite bare and minimalist, and the reason is that the piece took up every single byte of available memory (even after I'd had to strip down Bach's music to the bare essentials Sorry, JSB!) However, now I have a Mk.II CX5M which boasts double the memory capacity, I might have another stab at it one day. Don't hold your breath though. |
