THIRD EARTH PROBE LANDS SUCCESSFULLY
The third probe from Earth has landed successfully - the second one this week to do so.
It came to rest high up on Meridiani Planum near the equator, where it is well away from any Martian habitation. It appears to be identical to the previous probe, which has shown a remarkable ability to traverse the landscape and avoid obstacles entirely automatically. Recently however, it seems to have developed a fault and has come to rest parked close to a boulder with the apparent intention of drilling into it. It has shown no sign of life for a few days now, but is still assumed to be active so it is strictly off-limits to all personnel.
The current renewal of interest in our world by the Earth inhabitants has again been a cause for concern here - a new meeting has been planned for later in the current year to discuss security issues. We were given a great deal of assistance from our Sirian friends some years back (See news item dated 119631253 - E. Herring) and we intend to put some more of their ideas into practice as soon as possible, along with the technology given to us for the purpose by the Sirian delegation. At the very least it will buy us some more time before we are ready to reveal our presence to the Humans.
