EARTH SPACECRAFT FLIES PAST MARS AT SAFE DISTANCE

The Earth spacecraft that caused a recent minor security panic has flown past harmlessly.

There were some visible signs of activity as it made its closest approach, which Martian scientists have suggested was caused by the craft making visual recordings of the Martian surface, but we are satisfied that it could not possibly have recorded anything other than the bleak rock-strewn landscape of our planet. Even so, it is worrying that Humans are taking an interest in us, and there is a certain relief amongst Martian officials that all the security devices and suggestions brought by the Sirians have been put into place literally in the nick of time. (See news item dated 11963.1253)

We have been lucky - so far. Sooner or later we will be discovered - we must be ready for this and be able to deal with it when the time comes, but for now our presence is still completely unknown to the natives of Earth.
