The Maze Book - Vol 1
I have been fascinated by mazes for most of my life. I can recall spending hours constructing quite complicated, fairly sophisticated and horribly ugly mazes as a schoolboy in the late 50's and 60's.
The art fell into a dormant state in subsequent years and any mazes I did draw were based on basic, conventional principles. Then in the 80's I discovered the mazes of Greg Bright and Bernard Meyers and the extraordinary constructions of these two masters opened my eyes to a whole range of unimagined possibilities.
Initially I made little attempt to extend my own range, being content to adapt Bright's and Myers' forms. But after a few weeks or months I began developing some original forms and adding new ideas to theirs.
In particular I tried to add a new dimension to Bright's "Hole Maze" idea by adding colour, an attractive design and other visual ideas. I have also 'pinched' other techniques to which I have sometimes added ideas of my own - i.e. Myers' 'Patchwork Quilt' (maze 1 and 9)
Enjoy!
